V1 Verification and Tax-Related Conflicting Information
Tri-State is pleased to bring Robert Weinerman from Iron Bridge Resources back for our in-person annual tax training!
In this year’s training, we will take a deep dive into V1 verification and tax related conflicting information. We will start with a look at how need analysis and Pell Grant eligibility have changed since 2025-2026. We’ll then talk about how verification and conflicting information reviews are similar, and how they differ. We will focus on V1 verification and look at the data that need to be verified when an applicant is selected for V1 verification, and what documents need to be on hand to do the verification. We will also cover the two tax issues that financial aid administrators are obligated to understand: who is required to file a tax return and what is the correct filing status for a taxpayer.
Where: Howard Community College (Thomas P. Clement Hall (TCH 101))
When: February 25, 2026 (9:00 AM - 3:30 PM)

Robert will put new emphasis on a few topics about which he has found that many financial aid officers have questions. We will discuss when the FA-DDX data can be considered verified and when additional documentation is required to verify a file even if there is FA-DDX tax data in the ISIR. We will look at times when the FA-DDX cannot be used, even if we have no manual data to use in lieu of it. We will look at which people can be considered members of the family size. And we will look at how foreign contributors are supposed to complete the FAFSA.
We look forward to you joining us! Tri-State membership is required and you can sign up to be a member as part of the registration for this training.
