TriState’s Community Service Event for 2009 was a raffle of donated items, with the proceeds going to benefit a student scholarship for Woodbridge High School in Bridgeville, DE. This school was selected because of the large number of disadvantaged individuals in the school’s service area. Because of the generous donations made by our membership, and a great response by conference attendees, $400 was raised for the scholarship. The funds will be designated to help with the purchase of books/supplies for a Woodbridge High student enrolling in college for the 2010-11 academic year. Vicki Smith (Allegany College) and Nasim Keshavarz (UMUC) did a stellar job in raffle ticket sales. Raffle prizes included specialty baskets, Bath and Bodyworks items, hand-blown glass ornaments, a mystery novel basket, and many other wonderfully donated goods.

A special thank you to Doryann Barnhardt for the research that led to the selection of Woodbridge, and for all of her contributions to the Community Service Event.
