College Goal Sunday 2008

Submitted by:  David Manning, College Goal Sunday Committee

Save the date of February 10, 2008, to volunteer and help students. Your time, talents and support of students is needed to assist families complete the FAFSA at the annual College Goal Sunday. A few sites will hold the event on a different date so look for specific site information in the coming months.

College Goal Sunday is held at locations across MD, DE and DC. Its sole function is to help families work through the complexity of the FAFSA. The results are tremendous, and it helps first generation college students not get discouraged about attending post secondary education and starting the application process for financial aid.

Our current plan offers 19 locations, and volunteers generally work one-on-one to answer questions. You are the experts, and the families appreciate all the information and assistance provided.

If you have not volunteered in the past and want to get involved, contact me at dmanning@nationaleducation.com to look at a site that is right for you. For those that have volunteered in the past, we look forward to your continued involvement. Contact the site coordinators from last year and make sure they know you want to stay involved.

We all look forward to another successful year through the hard work and efforts of the financial aid community. It helps students, their families, and the community; plus, you will get that warm and fuzzy feeling of helping others.
