Fall 2007 Conference:
“Riding the Waves of Change”
Submitted by:  Michael Poma, Vice Chair

The Fall 2007 committee is in full swing and the countdown is on until we meet at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge, MD on Sunday, November 11, 2007. As you can see by the new conference mini-site, we have planned great sessions and great speakers for the event. Continue checking the mini-site and watching the listserv for announcements.

On Sunday evening, we’ll be inspired by Liza Bruce, our opening speaker. She has a great story, one you will not want to miss. At lunch on Monday, we’ll have Dr. Earl Richardson, President of Morgan State University, join us. He’ll speak on changes in higher education. And Tuesday, we’ll conclude with a special federal update provided by Scott Miller and Greg Martin.

In addition, we have planned two networking events to share time with friends and colleagues. Plan to join us Sunday evening for an evening filled with games and come wearing your favorite team colors. On Monday evening, be ready to join DJ Marshall as we dance the night away to his “back by popular demand” music.

New this year, to encourage early registration for the conference, there was a giveaway of three free room nights. Congratulations to the winners:

  • Rhonda Underwood-Rimpel, Coppin State University
  • Brian Lee Sang, American University
  • Patricia Rhodes, Towson University

These nights are not provided from sponsored dollars and have come from the Association’s complimentary rooms that it receives by meeting the room block at the hotel. We hope this is a new tradition and one that can be carried on in future years.

We look forward to seeing you November 11-13, 2007 as we are “Riding the Waves of Change”. If you should have any questions, feel free to contact Michael Poma.
