The More Things Change...
Submitted by:  Ken Howard, D.C. Higher Education Financial Services

Effective June 12, 2007, when District of Columbia Mayor Adrian Fenty takes over the D.C. Public School System, there will be other related changes. One of those changes will result in a name change in the D.C. higher education area.

The D.C. State Education Office (DCSEO), which is the parent office of the Higher Education Financial Services (HEFS currently administers the DCTAG, DCLEAP and D.C. Adoption Scholarship Programs), will assume a brand new identity.

The DCSEO will become the D.C. Office of the State Superintendent of Education and the financial aid community will have to learn another new acronym (DCOSSE). The transition to the new identity will be seamless and will have no impact on current D.C. financial aid programs.
