2007 Spring Conference

Although the weather claimed it was winter, the 2007 Spring Conference was a success. As we were pondering what to do with our coats (it’s usually warm enough to leave them in the car, at the very least), we warmed up inside.

A brief Business Meeting allowed plenty of time to network with friends and browse the vendor area. The morning offered great sessions on VA benefits, negotiated rule making, student communications, and FERPA. There was also time to discuss our financial aid management systems with other schools that use the same platforms.

The afternoon brought an authentic American lunch of hot dogs and hamburgers, which was soon followed by our favorite DOE official, Greg Martin. As always, the Federal Update was a highlight and included important information for us to take back to the office.

More sessions and networking opportunities followed in the afternoon. All of the sessions included timely and helpful information. Many gave us a chance to think about the current proposals in Congress and how they affect our operations. It is especially important that we stay updated on these issues, pay attention to how they will influence the industry, and explain to our legislators how they will change the way we do business.

Thank you to the Professional Development & Training Committee for a great Spring Conference.
