Submitted by:  Rich Heath, TriState Past Chair for 06-07

Since assuming my responsibilities for “Chair-Elect” of the Association in June 04, and concluding with my most recent responsibilities as Past Chair and Chair of the Nominations & Election Committee, much change has taken place in the world in which we work. The one constant for our Association is the willingness year after year of individuals who step up and offer their services as elected Board members. Our selection of the 07-08 TriState Board is now complete, and I would like to offer a collective thank you to all those that ran and congratulations to those chosen to serve for 07-08.

Patricia Scott will begin her time on the Board as Chair-Elect. Patricia has a long history with the Association beginning back in 1989. Patricia has been the Maryland State President, TriState Secretary, Neophyte Coordinator and conference presenter. This vast and varied experience will serve the Association well as she assumes the Chair’s responsibilities in June ‘08.

Michael Poma will assume his duties as Vice Chair with major responsibility for the Fall Conference. Michael has been involved on numerous committees for TriState, most recently as a member of the Fall Conference Committee. Michael is also a member of the Virginia ASFAA, where he continues to serve that Association overseeing all of their professional development, conference and training activities.

Brittany Benton, elected as Secretary, comes to us after serving the Pennsylvania ASFAA. Jumping right in after joining TriState in ‘05, she has served the Maryland ASFAA as Co-Chair and Chair of the High School Guidance Counselor Workshops, and has been an active participant at most of the workshops and trainings offered regionally.

Incoming Treasurer Roger Lettie started his volunteer service six years ago with “You Can Afford College” and then added “College Goal Sunday”. Roger is a past member of the Community Outreach Committee and currently serves on the PD&T Committee.

Please join me in thanking all of these who will serve us over the next few years and those that will consider stepping up next year as Sarah Bauder and the ‘08-‘09 Nominations & Elections Committee search for willing and able members for the positions of Delaware, District of Columbia and Maryland State Presidents as well as Chair-Elect and Vice Chair.
