Minutes/Report: DATE: October 21, 2010 - MD LOCATION: AACC @ Arundel Mills ATTENDEES: Pat Shoemaker, Beth McSweeney, Laura Boesler, Stephanie Bender, Rhonda McLaren-Scott GUEST(S): MINUTES STATUS: The MD.Committee met on 10/21/10, with 5 members present. Beth McSweeney gave a report on the School Counselor Workshops scheduled for this November and December. The dates and places are as follows: 11/19, MC, Rockville Campus 12/3, Allegany College 12/9, CCBC, Essex Campus 12/10, Wor-Wic College 12/14, Howard CC Lynn Lee will be setting the date for Harford and Cecil's Workshop, to be held at the HEAT Center. All information, including times and registration information, should be posted by Fall Conference. We discussed our networking event/bus trip to New York City, which will be on Saturday, November 20. There are still seats available, but hopefully they will be filled shortly. The next item on the agenda was the MPT broadcast of "You Can Afford College". This year, MPT has decided to change things. Instead of broadcasting the video on the second Saturday of January, we will now be doing the show on Wednesday, December 8, at 8:00 pm. In addition to that change, there will now be live "cutaways" during the video to show people actually answering the phones, and MHEC is working with MPT to find students receiving an EA or GA grant who would be willing to be interviewed live in the studio. Pat will have a volunteer sign-up sheet at Conference. Stephanie will send a reminder flier to Financial Aid Directors and the listserve. We briefly discussed possible Spring projects, and we decided to schedule a Saturday working at the Maryland Food Bank in Halethorpe. We will be there Saturday, April 9. More information will be released after the first of the year. Our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 17, from 10:00 am until about noon, at AACC @ Arundel Mills, room 305.
