Minutes/Report: DATE: July 14, 2010 - Maryland Committee Report LOCATION: AACC, Arundel Mills ATTENDEES: Pat Shoemaker, Stephanie Bender, Ronda McLaren-Scott, Laura Boesler, Beth McSweeney GUEST(S): MINUTES STATUS: The Maryland Committee met to discuss and start to plan the events for the coming year. There were several suggestions for networking events, including a bus trip to New York City (now scheduled for November 20); and a possible tour of a local orchard, which would be open to families and would hopefully include a hay ride, corn maze, etc. We discussed the Counselor Workshops,and we came up with a list of repeat and new sites. We will be contacting the directors involved to confirm the dates and locations. Several community service ideas were discussed, including volunteering at the annual MPT pledge drive (a perfect tie-in with the "You Can Afford College" broadcast), helping at the Maryland Food Bank, and sponsoring a blood drive for the Red Cross. NEXT MEETING: The next meetings will be held on Wednesday, September 8, from 10 a.m. until noon, at AACC at Arundel Mills, Room 307; and on Wednesday, October 13, same time and location.
