MINUTES STATUS:

The first meeting committee meeting was held on December 10, 2004. Committee objectives and goals were the agenda items as well as plans for the upcoming DC December social gathering. Committee objectives discussed included DC networking, lobbying, program implementation, workshops, forums, forming sub-committees and the FAFSA campaign.

The next scheduled meeting will be March 4, 2005.

On December 22, 2004, the DC ASFAA Committee held a social gathering. All DC Tri-State members were invited. The event was held at Maggiano’s Little Italy Restaurant in Chevy Chase, MD and a fun time was had by all. Over 70 people were in attendance. The night began with mouth watering appetizers, followed by a delicious main course and topped off with delectable desserts and great door prize giveaways. It was a fantastic evening, however that was not quite the end of the evening. Before the festivities ended, all attendees took part in a sing-along appropriate to the season.

We conducted a survey for all attendees regarding community outreach and professional development and how we can attain these goals. We received some very interesting comments and we are still tabulating. We will gladly share comments received at a later date.

We established a toy drive, which was a huge success! A large number of donations were received and delivered to two local area children’s hospitals, Hospital for Sick Children and Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital. Thanks to all committee members who saw this through.
